Reflection:
It had been a fruitful trip for all. Some of us are missing the times in Wuhan. When we are in Wuhan we miss Singapore, when we are back in Singapore we miss Wuhan. So Howwww???? We've all learnt and improve. Spending the past 6 weeks together and zoooom it had passed so fast. As times goes by, we've know more about one another. Positive or negative it doesn't matter, no one is perfect. I'm going to miss everyone in this trip. Thanks for all the funny and special moments we had together. See all of you School when school reopens! Rest well... 21 guns and Mr Loh! =DDD

Day41- Last day of fun in wuhan

LAST DAY OF SHOPPING, last birthday celebration over in wuhan, laugage packing and weighing. i've pluck up the courage to weigh myself too.. 2 KG GAINED!!!

Oh my goodness. After that i realised my face became plummer!!! for the last 2 weeks in wuhan its either assignment or shopping. neglected exercise

We actually wanted to head out to have some fun with our fireworks, but too bad the school gate closes at 1030. We cant go out of school and playing fireworks is not allowed. so we decided to wait until 5am. but again its raining! so we waited until 6 plus, were the rain subsides but the sun is up! but never mind its the experience that mind.

Reflections:
For the past 40 days.. Wherever we go, the locals will tend to ask where are we from. When we said we are from Singapore they would be very surprise and ask us alot of question. Like Singapore is a developed country right? and why is our Chinese and English so good? They are not afraid to ask and are all friendly & welcoming. I'll miss the food stalls and shoppings in Wuhan.

Reflections:

Its been a good experience here in Wuhan. We get to know more about another country and get to interact with some of the local students. Though 6 weeks to some might be long to some might be short. To me this holiday has been spent fruitfully is the most important.

Reflections:
Finally BPE assignments are over! No more waking up in worries. Worrying about being late for class, worrying about presentations and reports. However, 2 more weeks SCHOOL IS RESTARTING!!!!!!! In wuhan I've learnt to plan my time more appropriately. We have lesser time to work on our assignments which means also lesser time to have fun. We should always prioritize our work in order to plan ahead. When there are choices to make a decision is very important. I make my own decision and must be the one responsible for it. Hence, always think of the consequences very carefully before decisions are made.

Day 35- Theme park and BuXingJie

we woke up at 7am to prepare and take the chartered bus to the theme park which is around 1 hour ride away from school and then a long walk from the drop off point.

we took the rollercoaster,vikings and one very boring 360deg ride. The tickets per rides are quite expansive. roller coaster cost about 5 dollar per ride and does is not really exciting. The 360deg ride is quite boring because of the slowww speed and the best ride in there will be the Vikings aka Pirate Ship!

After which we took the MRT, 1 Stop to BuXing Jie

Nothing much to shop as the stuffs there are quite expansive. 200+RMB (SGD 40+) for a basic design long sleeve shirt. When it comes to our meeting time at 6pm, it is also the time where the night street starts to brighten up.

However we need to take a ship and cross the river to a food street.

After which our chartered bus came to pick us up back to our school.

Day33, 34, 36, 37, 38- "Information gathering"

1st Official Off day! We went out to 卓刀泉 for some shopping!!

While waiting for the bus, this water truck came and almost gave us a shower.

We went to a resturant for lunch near the Mouse Street

And they have all these on the table for us. If you need any help they are just a press away~

We tried on this while waiting for the food for 1 RMB . Turn the nobe on the top to your horoscope, insert a 1RMB coin and twist! A capsule will come out from the mouth.

Day34: assignment 2 report rushing day, to be handed up tomorrow.

Day36:went back to 卓刀泉 to take a look at the shops at mouse street again. Bought a few shirts and some accessories. Surprisingly some of the shop and road stalls owners still recgonise us.

Day37:assignment 3 day, flexsim stimulation & report.

Day38: presentation cancelled-Shopping @ chicony

Reflection: Shopping and assignments Shopping and assignments, I'm not sure whether is it for me or what. I just can't put my heart at ease to go shopping when there is assignment waiting for me to complete back in the hostel. I don't wish to rush through and hand up work without quality. Time planning is very important to everyone of us studying here in Wuhan. If not we will not be able to do our work and play at the same time. No matter in Wuhan or back in Singapore we should not only Play hard but WORK hard too!

Day32- Written Test 2 & Shopping

10am we had our 2nd which is also the last written test!

the whole school is almost empty, canteen mostly closed and all the students are either back home or out spending their holidays wisely. While we had to go to school for work.

After the test, we rested a while and then set off to The Grand Ocean Shopping Mall for our VANS shoes. I'm pretty lucky as the two pairs of VANS shoes I eyed on had my size!! We got them at 80RMB, thanks to our LSCT friends who introduced us there. As a few days before we went they bought around 6 pairs of shoes there, hence the Manager decide to sell them to us at a lower price.

Reflection:

Although it is rather hard to manage our time over here in Wuhan, we still try our best to complete everything on time. 先苦后甜- Direct trans: First bitter, then sweet. I remember when i was in primary school, one of my Chinese teacher taught us this. As we will always bargain with the teacher to push back tests dates due to our laziness, she will always motivate us with this phrase. It is to motivate us to study hard now and then when everything is over we can enjoy all we want. Whenever i'm thinking of slacking I'll remember this sentence which she reminded us again and again...

Day31- China's Birthday

People's Republic of China's 60th anniversary

PUBLIC HOLIDAY where all the WUST students go for a long holiday until Sunday while we have a day off from school. The next day which is Friday- BPE written test 2.

No pictures today as finally we have chance to wake up late in the afternoon, had Captains Ball Games and then Dinner! Thats all for today..

The game today is a Good exercise and most importantly we had fun together!

Since the 1st week up till now i've never stop eating corn. I became a corn maniac since i came over to Wuhan. There is like steamed, boiled and bbq-ed corn and also their local corn has a special chewy texture to it. YUMS

Reflection:

Sometimes i wish there is no assignment or test, but thats what we have to do. Though we can get to enjoy ourselves here, we still need to complete the tasks given to us. This is a test for us to complete everything within the limited amount of time. Complete everything asap and SHOP!

Day30- Assignment 2 Presentation

In the morning is our last IS lesson where we learn more about Taoism and Buddism. After which we went back to our hostel for our ppt slides preparation.

2pm.. start of assignment 2 presentation! this time we are not the first few but the last few. When its our turn to present suddenly i cant open the ppt file in my thumbdrive. Got a little panic and start finding solutions. Borrowed a thumbdrive from Shun Qing which apparently worked! YAY.

Reflection:

In the process of doing a project in a team, I realise communication and taking initiative is very important. If there is no one to take initiative, the task might take longer than needed to accomplish. When it comes to work and play, work of course comes in first. As there are alot of distrations when we are studying overseas, we need to help one another out by reminding ourselves the work that is there waiting for us to finish. There is one last assignment to be presented next friday. We will be taking a few days break before we start on very last BPE assignment of this trip. Grand ocean and Zuo1 dao1 quan2 (introduced by a local friend) for some shoppings!

Day 29- Interaction Night & Gloria's Birthday

Electricity Supply Cut off again in the morning! We're all rushing our BPE Assignment 2 powerpoint slides which we are suppose to present tomorrow.

So without electricity, our laptops cant work for long, we decide to head out for lunch.

After which we have lesson @ 2pm. We had our quiz asap as our laptop battery cant last too long. After the quiz Mr loh decide to let us go off ealier as we are studying in a dark room. As we are suppose to step out of the door, the electricity came back. What a nice timing. But we're still let off to go back and rush our ppt slides.

Reflection:

It is actually very nice of the local students here in WUST to make the effort and plan such a fun night for all of us. Although it is not a perfect one but definetly it has brought much laughter to all the 80 of us studying in a foreign country. Theres a saying : "在家靠父母，出门靠朋友" When you go overseas, without family there will be friends whereby they can give us a helping hand when needed. Its better than when you are all alone where theres nobody there when you need help or a pair of listening ears.

Day28- Industrial Visit

BPE lesson in the morning Chapter 8 and quizWe had assignments to complete!! But we had industrial visit at Pharmaceutical industry very near to school. It actually has something which we could relate to our course which is their warehouse. But due to their regulations, we are not allow to explore the place. So we were brought around the place, mostly looking at the Chemicals containers around the perimeter of their plant. The visit ended very quickly and we're back in our hostel in an hours time. Reflection:

Today's Industrial visit showed us how some companies protect their properties. Unlike the previous Coca Cola visit, they welcome visitors to their compound and share what brings them to their current success. Oh well.. I guess there are some highly confidential things which are not suppose to be leaked.

2 more weeks to the day we are HEADING HOME!!! We've all been together for 4 weeks, new friends made and new things learnt! :)

Day27- 武当山Day 2

We woke up at 6am, had our breakfast and started our hiking!

武当山In the morning around 7+ am, the weather is freezing cold. So we had all our windbreakers onStarting point which is near our HotelWe started off in a big group

Up up up we go~ As we go, we started to get warmer so we took off our windbreakers.

Slowly we dispersed, as everyone started to feel something on their calves! Some rested, slowed down, some Chiong all the way upTheres about 6500 steps up to the peak @.@

Reflection:

This is an good experience- climbing up the 武当mountain. So feel like giving up halfway as it is really tiring, my calves are aching. However all of us persevered and encouraged one another. If we didnt came as a group i guess i would have given up halfway or take half a day to climb up. This is a challenge for all of us, in the future there will sure be more to overcome. Life is never meant to be easy.

Challenges are what make life interesting; overcoming them is what makes life meaningful.

This time we woke up at 5am to prepare for the 2Day1Night WuDang Trip

As theres a blackout in the WHOLE school ard 3am, hence the plan of not sleeping to rush assignment 2 is cancelled. So 2 hours of sleep and 6 hours on the bus. Neck ached again, after so many weekends trip, everyone has discovered my special ways of sleeping on the bus. HAHA

We had lunch, good food again. Yummy
after which we went off to take their shuttle bus to our destination with our big baggages

Reflections:

Today's Business Etiquette lesson has taught be a lot of things that can be used in the future when I'm out in the working environment. The Dos and the Don'ts. This is to prevent embrassement or awkwardness due to the difference in culture. To make a succesful deal, we should be aware of the cultural difference of different country. For example in the US, Germany and Japan, it is rude to be late, however in Saudi arabia, it is expected. I find that basics of Business Etiquette rather interesting. I hope I'll be able to learn more in the future.

Day 24- National Day Celebration

After lesson, me and Yoke May had our dinner and went to take a look at the National day celebration in school. It was a very grand one with all the Freshmen in their smart uniforms all seated infront of the stage.

There are more performance by other clubs, what created the most crowd, most applause and most cheering is definitely the 熱舞社 direct translation: Hot dance club. Where the girls dressed Skimpily and dances sexily. haha We didnt watch finish the whole celebration as we need to go back early for assignment 2 discussion. Assignment 2 presentation next tues!

Reflection:

Feels like home again, where we watch performance put up by fellow friends in school. I remember one tour guide talking about their national day program here in China. Their families will always complain about how boring the show it is after watching the show every year. But year after year they will still tune in to the program. It is actually the same over in Singapore, though sometimes we complain the program is boring or nothing much special, we will still tune in next year awaiting for more new and exciting performance. This is because National Day is a special day, it marks the day where Singapore gains its independence from Malaysia. When 2008 National Day theme song sang by hady mirza- Shine for Singapore is accidentally added to my music playlist, it reminds me of my homeland. I miss carrot cake, chwee kueh, fishball noodles, and NP's makan place KAKI FUYONG!

Day 23- Outward Bound (龍的傳人)

After which we went to eat one of the Folk dish in Hubei, Wuhan as introduced by our teacher in our 1st IS class which is the FISHBALL!

I guess there are 60 of them inside as we ordered the BIG one. There are fishballs, radish and a freshwater Fish in there. The soup taste superb!
After a long and tiring day, its time for us to go back to our rooms and rest.

Reflection:

During the last briefing in Ngee ann, we finally saw the schedule. I was a little worried when i saw the outward bound part, but it was too late to backout as everything has been confirmed and we're leaving in a few days time. Today, I was a little afraid at the rock climbing station, but after taking up the challenge, i was determine to go even higher. So sometimes in life we will meet some obstacles which we will have to solve and overcome it. If we never try, we will fail the challenge and always remain at that line and never get pass it.

The only real failure in life is the failure to try.

Day 22- Coca Cola Factory Visit

Reflection:

Finally the long awaited Industrial Visit. This is a good chance to take a look at a successful company's manufacturing and storage system. However we were only briefly described the manufacturing processes and not much about the warehouse part. I guess BPQE students can relate the manufacturing process part to their course. For me as a Logistics student, I really hope we are able to see more of the warehouse movement and storage. Logistics Mangement is actually an interesting course, it is actually not only about managing a warehouse but more than that.

Logistics is always a part of our life! Its everywhere and anywhere.

Day 21- Information Gathering Day

Today marks the start of the 4th Week here in Wuhan!!

Traditional Chinese Philosophy by Mr Philip An in the morning

All about the History of China. Today was mostly about Confucianism, Taoism, and Buddhism

Mr Loh got sick after the trip back from the 3 gorges and had 5 bottles of Drips. Since there is no lesson in the afternoon we decide to go out to the city for some new food for lunch. We wanted to visit Mr Loh before going off but he is back in his room from the hospital so we decided not to disturb him.

we took 903- We learnt something from our 1st bus ride. Over here you can board the bus even if you are not at the bus stop. Just Flag it some where near the bustop and it will stop, we dont have to run and chase after the bus like we do in Singapore.

As our fingers are in a very inconvenient state, someone has got to help us!so he became the 君子 of the day君子- (Term coined by Confucius to describe his ideal human) we learn it this morning.

Reflection:

Over here everytime when we spend, we always like to convert the money back to Sing dollars to compare whether if it is worth it. Though sometime the service here is alot cheaper than what we can get in Singapore, the quality of the service is not really good. For example today at the manicure shop, the service personnels there gets impatient very easily. They normally voice their thinkings straight infront of the customers. They are not afraid whether customers will get angry and leave the shop. I guess this is the reason why they dont have much customer flow. Service and Marketing really taught me alot of skills in doing business.

We are going for industrial visit at COCA COLA factory tomorrow!!

Day 20- THREE GORGES DAY 3

Woke up from our sleep in the midnight and went up to the top level again.

This time we are passing the Three Gorges Dam's Five Stage ship lock. Its like a "staircase" which will bring us down to a lower water level. In order to lower the ship over 100 meters, the water pressure is enormous. There is no gate which can withstand such pressure, hence designers designed five locks, instead of one.

Exiting from the 1st compartment. Notice the wet part of the wall? The water level decreased in order to send us to the 2nd compartment.

1st to 2nd compartment takes around 40 mins. So from the 1st to the 5th compartment takes around 4 hours. After watching the process from the 1st to the 2nd, some of us went back to sleep while some stayed on.

In the morning, 6am breakfast. After that we leave the cruise and made our way to the bus. Slept like a log during the 6 hours back to our hostel. We reached hostel at around 2pm.

We sent our dirty clothes to the laundry shop for the 1st time for $1 (Wash and Spin Dry), lunched, rested, dinner and started blogging

The night is realli freezing cold. According to the weather forecast online its 17 deg. There is no need to on the airconditioner. Just open the door and window will do.

Reflection:

With the help of modern technology, many impossibles has became possible. One of the exmaple will be the 3 Gorges Dam's Five Stage Ship lock which we happen to experience today. This teaches us to never stop learning and using our brains to think out of the box. For this 3 gorges trip the thing that amzazed me the most is the Suspended coffin and next is then then the huge Ship locks.

Bai Di Cheng is an old city with rich historic story and mysterious legend.

In there, it's like a museum where we can see some display of the past weapons and historical items.

We saw a suspended coffin in there. The coffin is placed at a very high place where people with no special equipment cannot reach.

Flag of the Liu Bei's ( A general, warlord, and later the founding emperor of Shu Han during the Three Kingdoms era of China) Army.

After exploring the place..we got to go back to the entrance to catch the bus back to our cruise.

After which we transfer to another smaller cruise which will bring us to the place in the picture below:

As this cruise is smaller than ours, the 3 level have will have to limit the number of people up there in order to balance the weight. So some of us cant go up to get the best view.

After lingering downstairs at the 2nd level, we went to the front.

After a while we finally reunited and started our siteseeing

Finally we reached our destination where we go onto Sampans which can load 14 of us each

Its a new experience for all of us

When we reach the part of the course where it is shallow the boat trackers have to get down and start pulling the boat. These guys work since young and retire only at 60 years old. They are all muscular and skilled.

See them pulling the boat with their strength with all of us on it makes me feel so guilty.

After which we got back to the small cruise and back to our Golden Sun cruise.

Reflections:

Seeing the suspended coffins makes me feel really really amazed. According to information online, there are different ways to build the coffins and in the ancient times only high ranking people will get this type of special burial customs for the local Ba people to bury their respected ones. The higher the coffin is placed the higher ranking the dead is. BUT how did they even manage to place the coffin up at such places without modern technology? This really made me ponder for a long long while. I guess this must be the most amazing historic item I've ever seen in China. Not in a museum but at its original location.

Day 18- THREE GORGES DAY 1

It was an early morning...We woke up at 5am to prepare for our 3 gorges trip. Missed the 1st Rain in Wuhan.. Since Day 1 there is no rain at all though sometimes the weather is cold. 620am gathered, board the bus Though the road is bumpy, we can all just go into deep sleep for 6 hours with toilet breaks in between. Spot me in red and the position of my head.
With my phone prepared in front of me.. I was awaiting for my results.But when the sms came i decided not to open it, I went back to sleep. Finally when i pluck up the courage to open it, it gave a good sense of satisfaction.
1st meal when we reach 宜昌.It was a good meal. The mushroom look alike bun and tasty potatoes

Day17- Written Test 1

This morning we were suppose to go for an Industrial visit. However it was cancelled, so we get to have the chance to study a little in the morning before having the written test in the afternoon.

Written Test 1! Though its open book, it is still kind of hard and I cant finish the last question in time!! =(

After the test we set out for dinner at the resturant we went with Mr loh on monday.

This is taken before Food is served.. happy with high expectations

However the food served today are really below standard. Xiao Bai Cai and the soup both have strong taste of smelly beancurd. Chicken pot which suppose to have a whole chicken of meat inside are mostly bones and salty radish.
From what i've learnt, when customers are satisfied with the service, they will return with higher expectation. If the high expectations are not met, the customers are likely not to visit again. Today I've got to experience it on my own as a customer.
Tomorrow 620am we are not going school but 3 Gorges!!3 Days 2 night trip. So See ya on Monday~ =)

Reflection:

I've learnt that we can actually apply what we have learnt to our daily life, to obeserve and evaluate. Although sometimes what we study can actually be a little dry. However when we start to look at real life situation, what we study actually seems to be so handy. Everything seems to be impossible until it is done.

Day 16- Assignment 1 Presentation

Today we had our 2nd IS lesson 9-12pm and BPE chapter 5, quiz 5 and assignment 1 presentation.
Today's IS lesson we learn more about chinese traditions, wedding customs and Fengshui.

We finally got to use the headphone as the teacher said that we will hear more clearly about what he is talking about.

He showed us videos of the Chinese Table Manner which reminds me about my mother's nagging on wedding dinners when i was young. Do not do this do not do that

Reflection:
Born in a Chinese Family, naturally our parents will teach us all the Chinese customs and traditions. What we can do on the dining table what we can't. However up till now i still can't hold the chopsticks correctly, but I'm trying hard now to change! Wedding customs that are taught today, seems so familiar. Though the customs are quite complex and troublesome, we will still follow as there a saying that it will bring good luck or good fortune in the future.

Day15- Interaction Day!

When we enter the place, there are alot of Year ones of WUST here heading back to campus after their training. This picture reminds me of the Southern Army Camp we visited on Day 6.
Upon reaching the BBQ site we settled down and started setting fire.

Start of BBQ!They dont use bbq sauce over here, they prepared chilli powder, pepper, salt, soya sauce and some other spices to mix.

Suddenly something flew into the air! ICT students started playing fireworks!! WOOohoo~The Fireworks are real near and real pretty! In Singapore you can never have a chance to play with these.

We helped them to clear the rubbish and ended the bbq around 9+

Reflection:
It's nice meeting the local students studying over in WUST. Got to know that their living condition in their hostel is really bad as compared to us living in this hotel-like hostel. Their room has got 5 people staying together while we only have 2 or 3. We've got 1 toilet in 1 room while they share toilets within 1 level. Also they dont have the privilege of the airconditionings. Hearing all this, i felt really fortunate to be living in this hostel. I shall not complain anymore about the squatting toilets and always remember to switch off the lights and air-conditionings when we're out. SAVE THE EARTH!

Day14-Labtest1

Today was another normal schooling day.. nothing much happened today

Birthday singing @ 12am for ShunQing as today is her actual birthday, previously we celebrated hers together with MingYu's

All 2o of us squeezed into her room

9am lesson today.. we studied chapter 4 and did quiz 4.
After which we did the Mock Lab test using Flexsim software.
We had our Actual Lab Test after lunch at 2pm.

After Lab Test at around 4 plus, we went back to hostel and rested for a while. Went jogging around the track and it was rather freezing as the wind today was kind of strong!

After which we rushed back to hostel, changed our shoes to meet the others and Mr Loh for dinner at a restaurant nearby campus. The food was good and tasty.

After that... snacks at the roadside stalls! Cool stools eh.

Tomorrow no lesson as we are going to Pluck Oranges in the afternoon and BBQ in the evening together with some of the local students from the Foreign Language School!! YAY

Day13-Day Tour II

1st destination is at the Hankou Beach.. whereby we roam around taking pictures

After which we went to a street nearby called the BU XING JIE where we start toeat, shop and play. We didnt actually buy anything as the price of all the items are relatively higher.

We went to the arcade to catch these.. its not about the toy we got, but its the sense of satisfaction when the plushie drops out of the machine.

Looking at the Split pants eh?

Most of the babies in China can be spotted wearing these on the street. I've search for the reason why their parents let them wear these Split pants is because to prevent diaper rash, kids to feel comfortable on hot days and ease of release.

After which while walking back to the gathering point we saw a statue which looks so real

Reflection:

Today we only had 20 present for the City Tour as JunRu wasn't feeling well and has to go hospital for a drip. And from what I heard from her room mates who accompanied her to the hospital nearby, the service was slow. Even before i came to China, I've heard that hospitals here will often give drips instead of medication like we do in Singapore. I feel so fortunate living in Singapore, cause we have panadols instead of drips!! So I hope all OIP-ian take care of yourselves! Get we'll soon JUNRU we are going to pluck orange on Tuesday!!

Day12- Day Tour (Yellow Crane Tower &Hubei Museum)

It was an early day. We had to gather and meet at 715am.

After which we set off for a 1h 30mins journey to the city...

1st Destination, The biggest scenery tourist attraction in Wuhan and also the largest lake within a city in China, is located on the south bank of the Yangtze River

QuYuan Status- who drowned himself in a tributary of the Yangtze River. He is the reason why we are eating ZONGZI now.
After a tour at East Lake.. we went of to Bai Yi Yuan 小吃街

The food there is DELICIOUS TangBao, Seafood and the Mango Jelly Ice. I hope we will have the chance to go back again!!!
2nd destination, we went off to the Hubei Museum, they have a large collection over there. The Museum has a large collection of 200,000 cultural relics (Pottery, porcelains, jade, bronze vessels, ancient weapons and ancient musical intruments)

The Chime Bells in the Bottom right picture is the largest bronze musical instrument ever discovered. There are about 3,000 ancient Chinese characters on the bells, describing the music and the owner of this instrument.
Last Destination, we went to the Yellow Crane Tower (黄鹤楼). It has a long history and was rebuilt several times before this current one which was rebuilt at 1981.
There is a huge bell in front of the tower which has a structure that looks like a chinese word (春). There is also electronic guides in the tower.

Reflection:

City tour day (I) today, is Definitely a very enriching one. Stories behind these historical sites are rather very interesting and new to us to some of us. I've read some of these stories during our primary school/secondary school chinese textbook and here we are today at the historical sites. Imagining what happened thousands of years ago just at where we are standing. It is sometimes hard to believe what is in the history book of China is right infront of my eyes.

DAY 11- 1st lesson of Insight to China

A few of us are not feeling too well. I'm having diarrhea since morning... BOOOO
Not sure its because of what. The day before we only ate one meal which is KFC and some biscuits from the bakery nearby.

9am IS class today.. we studied alot about the history- The Romance of the Three Kingdoms 《三國演義》, customs and FOOD of China.

Though the class is a little dry, we still manage to learn a lot of things regarding China's traditions and history.

After class we went to a resturant the guys introduced us. It is opened and managed by students of WUST. I wonder how can they manage studies and work at the same time.

After dinner there is suppose to have BPE lesson, however as most of us were dead tired due to the assignments and other stuffs. Mr loh decided to cancel the class and allow us to do the Flexsim exercise 2 in our hostel. While he will come over to check on us.

After taking a nap.. it is time for our PLAN OF THE DAY!

Reflection:
China is a Country with history of many thousand years ago. While Singapore only has a few hundred years of history. Comparing Singapore and China, China's history is much more complicated and longer than ours. This Wuhan trip let me know more of China's History and got to clear some of my doubts regarding 《三國演義》. I didn't regretted joining this Wuhan trip as from the class today I got to know more about the history of our forefathers. Other than that, what i realise today is that i should start to improve my way of expressing myself and treasure friends.

DAY 10- Military in University

Class as usual today...but IS class in the morning was cancelled. So BPE lesson @ 2pm!

Swing my hands out of the window.. the weather today is warm. It is so different from the past two days. Nothing much happened today, climbed the killer 135 steps, lesson on chapter 3, quiz 3 and then...

On our way back to the hostel after class we saw people in green unifrom. From what i heard is that Year ones (both male and female) must go through some basic military training when they enter university. From what i found online, it says that this training is seen as an opportunity to meet new classmates, and instill a sense of duty and patriotism.

They are at the basketball court nearby doing some drills. We're so used to the Malay language command that listening to command in chinese sounds abit new and weird to us.

There are these banners all around the school welcoming all the newbies.

When it is uncooked. Didnt manage to take a photo of it cooked as i gluped it down too fast. It is tasty, but too salty.Feeling so guilty now as I didnt went running with them today. Went to have my early dinner. As the KFC over here @ 7plus will have no more food for us!! I wonder why are they closing so early everyday.
Ceiling is still leaking.. repair man is coming tomorrow. I just pray that we dont have to move to another room.

Reflection:

The basic military training that the students receive when they are freshmen is an eye opening and definitely cannot be found in Singapore's Universities. Though I feel that some might be forced to go for the training as it is complusory for all who wants to study in University here in China. I think this is a good chance to get toughen up and make new friends at the same time. If there is this kind of training for Singapore's Universities I'll be happy to go as i take it up as a challenge and to get a taste of how military is like.

Day 9- 090909 birthday!

Reflection:

1st time celebrating my birthday overseas with so many fellow school mates. It was really a nice experience. I thought i was going to celebrate a lonely birthday this time. But i was wrong there are still friends around me who remembers and planned a surprise celebration for me. Good friends will always be there for you when you need them the most. So dont forget to treasure friendships that are hard to come by!

After dinner outside at the wonton shop again, went shopping with gloria, anyu, junru and yokemay. Suddenly all of them were acting really weirdly. HAHA i kind of guess what is happening later (090909)..

Reflection:

The facilities in WUST's classrooms only has three power plug whereas we have 21 student + 1 lecturer. We need 22 plugs for our laptops! While we are studying in NP, every desk will have an individual plug. However here in Wuhan we need to bring our own extension plugs in order to have power supplies for everyone. We should be greatful for the classroom of ours in NP.

In singapore the weather does not change that dramatically like here in Wuhan. The day before we were sweating and complaining about the hot weather and today... the weather turned cold. It was really windy and sometimes the corridor is even cooler than our dorms. Looking at the weather forecast it was 20 deg! We should count ourself lucky that we stay in a tropical country.

Note to all OIP-ians: Swing your arms out of the window and test the weather to decide wad to wear for that particular day. You shall decide your own comfort for that day. HAHA

DAY 7- 1st lesson and Orientation II

1st lesson in Wuhan @10am.. I'm On time!!
we crazily climbed the wrong way up while we can take another better way.
I think today is also the 1st day of school for the rest of the school.
There is LOTS of people with umbrellas and tents set up in the school.

We started on our 1st lesson on Business Processing Engineering (BPE). This is the software (Flexsim) we used to do our tutorials. The software was rather an interesting one as we are able to build a 3-dimensional computer model of a real-life system, study that system in either a shorter time frame or for less cost than with the actual system.

Looks like the Local females are scared of the Strong UV rays! The weather today was BURNING!! And there is no shelter like what we have in NP which connects all the blocks

After lesson which ends at 12nn.. we went for our lunch at the delicous Wonton Shop just outside school. 145pm we gathered again for another orientation around the school. This time we went to the Engineering and Life Science Block

We toured around the school. Walking really long distance from 1 block to the other in this weather and the Steps in WUST is really making us sweat.

There are dummies in most of the rooms which the students used for practicals.

After visiting, we headed back to our hostel.. took a rest and someone suggested to go Jogging!

After which we started jogging around the school. The students of WUST seems to be amazed with people running the campus. The slopes here is definetly good for training!

After a long run, the sky turned dark and we went to a basketball court near our hostel for some stretchings and cool down

Reflection:

After touring around the school, i found out that the environment of studying is different from Ngee ann's. The classroom here mostly do not have air conditioner, other than a few of the labs we went to. Everyone of us i guess are used to study in cooler environment with comfortable chairs and tables. However when we are here in a different place, we are not given privilege just because we're not local. We're to adapt to their studying lifestyle here.

Its been sometime since some proper physical training. The running today gave me a sense of accomplishment after the run. Sometimes we have to push ourselves in order to improve. For school work, often when we recieve a task, one look we will think we cant do it. However after attempting it, actually its not as hard as we thought it would be. So we should always push ourselves to try before attempting to give up.

Day 6- Trekking

Woke up, packed our stuffs and left our super comfy hotel room. We're leaving for the LULIN Ancient Army Camp.

After which we went to the LU LIN's Ancient Army Camp. We need to take their bus up the place.

The bus is travelling at a very fast speed despite the twist and turns up the mountain. It feels like roller coaster! The skills of the driver is really good...

Those are the cannons at the back and the cart they are sitting on are used to transport materials.This looks so much like a scene in Ancient Dramas.Imagine soldiers charging and fighting over here during ancient times.

Theres also horse riding experience there. 10RMB (around S$ 2)Didnt tried it out though most of them said it was fun.

Before Squeezing through the exit of the cave, we can see an opening at the top with light shining in, i guess this is why they name it Cave to the Heaven.

After which we went down the mountain with that exciting bus ride and back to the resturant for lunch. I guess we had 3 meals before this. And this particular dish contains the lotus -eaten in yesterday's lunch, duck meat- eaten in yesterday's dinner and they are now our lunch today. After the lunch.. its time to head back to our hostel. The next day we will start our 1st lesson in Wuhan!

In one of the previous post there is the cucumber flavour of LAY's Potato Chips.

And now presenting to you LYCHEE, KIWI and BlueBerry flavour! Dont think that the Natural & Cool is there for show.. there is really a cooling feel in the mouth after eating it. These are unique flavour cannot be found in Singapore!

Reflection:
After a visting the Lu Lin Ancient Army Camp, I can't imagine how the soldiers fought in such condition. So up high in the mountains, how did they even manage to reach there with the technology then. Helicopter? Jet Fighter? Its guess its the determination to win something which makes it possible. This tells us that with determination, nothing is impossible, everything is possible.

Unlike Singapore where most of the natural attraction are man-made, we're able to take a look at what something that is formed naturally and can still be so amazing.

Day 5- LULIN

ITS Weekends! Time to head somewhere far out of campus...

This week we went to LULIN (绿林) for Water Rafting, see waterfall and trekking ...

Gathered @ 730am and ready to go~

On the 4 hour, very fast, bumpy and ever honking bus up the mountain... we can still do this as the sleepy spell just seems to be casted on everyone. The faster and the shaky it is the more i sleep.

After lunch before going for water rafting... got to buy these straw sandals (2 RMB) .

We had 'Sauna' on the Bus as the driver didnt on the air-con

Apparently all the straw sandals are FREE SIZE.. lol

On the raft... it wasn't as exciting as i thought it would be as it was meant to be Romantic.

Next up we went for waterfall sightseeing...

we didnt took this transport as walking ourselves would be a better experience

Look at the Room we're gonna stay for 1 night.. Soft bed, TV, hairdryer, kettle that are missing in our hostel. Now i know how lucky are we to have all of this back home in Singapore.

After putting all our stuff in the hotel room.. we went for a stage performance at the bottom of the hill. Interesting enough the Locals interact alot with the actors on the stage. The show is really interesting. However... due to the long day we had my eyes cant stay open!!

Ending the show with this... we're surrounding the fire and dancing.

Reflection:

Mother nature needs to have some attention. We took her for granted and now we need to start preserving. Everyone should do their part.

Its really nice to stay in a hotel after a few days of stay in the campus hostel. We realise how lucky we were in Singapore with our televisions, washing machine, comfortable beds which sometimes we took granted for. In the hostel we had to wash our own laundry, no SCV channels to watch and we have to clean our own room. Thats the life of us overseas; living independently...

DAY 4- ORIENTATION DAY + Free Day III

Reflection:

Finally we get to explore the campus today. Studying in an foreign country might be difficult as the environment is very different. It is hard to make the environment to adapt to us so we must try our best to adapt to it within a short period of time. In Logistics and many business we say time is money, money is time. When we are late, the others will have to wait for us hence time is wasted. Therefore we should change our bad habits in order to give others a positive impression of ourself.

Day 3- Free & Easy II

So we decided to head to the city with Mr Loh!!

There is no ez-link card or cash payment machine like we have in Singapore. They will have this ticketing lady in the bus collecting money (RMB$2 per trip). There is also no bell on the bus. The ticketing lady shout "_____ 站要下车ma ????" with her super sharp and loud voice. The bus driver can just emergency break anytime and make all of us fly to the front if he's unhappy. HAHAH there is no such thing as I wan to complain you ar!

A shopping mall in the City that i think is bigger than vivo city. We almost lost our way while going back to the gathering point.

Me and Yoke May are actually waiting for seats in McDonald. But were extremely digusted by a group of Locals. Saying Singaporeans KiaSu... i think they are even worst than us. They didnt even wait for people to leave their tables before sitting down and also ignoring the both of us that are waiting for the table.

We went to their cinema to have a look and those words made by eyes go crossed.
After that we went shopping for some neccesities and went to have a haircut! I FORGOT TO TAKE PHOTO there! As i was busy chit chatting with the hairdresser. He seems to be really interested about our life in Singapore. As many of us were there doing our hair together there, hence we mumbled alot english.. or i would say singlish there. My hairdresser actually tried to understand us but failed. HAHA

武汉科技大学中南分校 Edy bought a basketball that cost only SGD $2! That will be their entertainment other than gaming. We came back to campus to put our barangs barangs and off we went for dinner at roadside stalls again. yummy~

REFLECTION:

The lifestyle here in China, wuhan seems to be slower-paced and more simple than Singapore's. Over in Singapore, things seems to be more expensive as the prices of items includes Goods & Service Tax (7%) of the item. There is no GST in WUHAN!

Also at the Bus Stop there will be time when many bus will arrive together, not like in Singapore where SBS and SMRT buses are are scheduled on a timely basis. You won't be able to see 6 buses or more buses cramped at the roadside honking here and there just because the one infront stops a little longer for passengers to alight.

I've learn that we shouldn't take things for granted in Singapore. Our good transport system and peaceful living condition and courtesey. 3rd day in Wuhan, and i've seen alot of thing about their living lifestyle.

DAY2- Free & Easy I

Day 2 theres suppose to have orientation, but Mr Loh said that they are not prepared yet. Hence the orientation will be pushed till friday instead.

And also me and Yoke May realised the locals love to frown making them look abit more fierce looking. Those working in the shop and walking on the road.imitating small spoon, big serving portions and cheap price (SGD 1+)= their style

After lunch off we went shopping at the nearby mama shops. Which has almost everything you need in the Hostel. COOL! So we went around like aunties and uncles buying all the daily necessities

Around 6 plus in the evening we decided to go out and hunt for some snacks. And we saw roadside stalls stalls that were not there in the afternoon. Actually they are quite clean except for a few flies here and there which is quite expected.

BUT!! what the place is lacking of is RUBBISH BINS! Its really hard to find bins here in Wuhan unlike in Singapore... Rubbish is Everywhere! In the drain, on the grass, in the Water fountain blah blah blah...

okay and i find this really interesting. Lots of people playing pool OUTdoor

Theres alot of tables there.. cheap cheap~ just a few yuans i think?
Went around looking at the roadside food stalls and the more 'ulu' place down the road

and they sell this kind of mini watermelon that i dont think can be found in Singapore?.. Its just slightly bigger than ur palms

and there is these bbq stalls there, their taste is heavenly good, but also heavenly SPICY! They spray chilli and pepper power like FOC.

Handroll which includes hot dogs, crushed YouTiao, salted egg, salted veg wrapped with glutinous rices. It tastes good but might be considered salty to some. JUST 3RMB = less than SGD $1. CHEAP!!

REFLECTION:

In Singapore normally I'll be lazing at home waiting for mum to buy all the neccesities needed at home. Seldom would i go buy all these Water boiler, pails etc. Suddenly i feel so independent away while away from home. Me and Yoke May compared prices of the items in order to Saveeee!!

The traffic in Wuhan seems to be really messy. At a traffic light there is no green man or red man flashing like in Singapore and you will also have to look out for incoming cars even when it is red light. Some motors or car might just come charging and honking at you as its your fault for crossing the road and not because of their improper driving.

And also I realise something very different compared to Singapore will be the words frequently used in our daily life. Words like Excuse me (不好意思), Thanks (谢谢) and Sorry (对不起) are seldom used over here. Like for example when they wants to cut in between you and another person they will either squeeze or push you out of the way no Excuse Me said. When they accidentally bump onto you no Sorry were said. Whenever we said Thanks to the storekeeper they'll feel kinda happy and weird. HAHAs that is what i feel.

Boarding Gate and Off we set of to CHINA - GuangZhou!To me the flight journey was good, not as bad as i thought it would be as i have the impression that China airline will be uncomfortable and so on. But to me i feel no difference as compared to Singapore Airlines. Just that there is no individual television.
I guess they really Love their country alot. Look at that Flag over there!

is this an AAA store? just like all the AAA quality LV and gucci goods? or is it just their translation of GUARDIAN abit weird?? hahah
Our 1st meal @ the airport 45yuan = 9+SGD and its the CHEAPEST food we can find in the airport!

We're always worrying when others had gotten theirs. "Ehhh...Why my lauggage haven comeee???" But yeh, China Southern Airline never fails to dissapoint us.
Just look at their faces after getting their baggage.After collecting our baggage, we head off to our hostel which is 1h30mins bus journey away from the airport. Our bodies are really aching from those bad sleeping positions on the plane and bus journey. Just when i thought my neck is breaking soon, WE FINALLY REACHED OUR HOSTEL!! (gif. image)Had our 1st Dinner in the Campus resturant, there are soooo many dishes!! Look at the before and After picture. The plate of fried chicken is the FAV of all.

ROOM 315 : LAI YOKE MAY AND REBECCA CAIIts just the 2 of us as we have odd numbers in the grpSo after getting our rooms we kind of started unpacking making it feel like home by messing the room up abit and looking at the Birthday Card from Singapore.
Something to note* The bed really doesn't feels as soft as it looks like. I was shocked by it smashing down on the bed sideways. LOL its really hard like wooden planks BUT, it looks like soft mattresses.
